1. Don’t scrape it yet
Dry-scraping a ceiling that contains asbestos spreads fibers through the home and can contaminate HVAC systems.
2. Test it
One or a few samples, depending on whether different rooms were textured at different times.
3. Decide
- Negative: standard removal, skim coat and paint.
- Positive: contained abatement, or encapsulate/cover if you are not disturbing it.
4. Refinish
After abatement, we can coordinate skim coat, texture and paint.
